Getting Your Family Included In Your House Business

Most often the families bring in the interventionist as a last resort. They’ve tried everything else from giving the addicted person money, to imposing restrictions, to hiring him or her in the family business, to letting him or her live in the basement, etc. These are enabling behaviors and do nothing to help the addict.

Keep hanging out with drunks and drug users, and that’s what you’ll remain. Surround yourself with healthy, supportive, loving, successful, humble and grounded folk… and that’s what you’ll become.

drug use in Amarillo TX As you may have already guessed, all of these things happened to me, after I had amassed 26 rental properties. In fact, oftentimes, all of these problems happened in the same month. Now, for awhile (when I had about 10 houses), if one person failed to pay rent, I could cover it with the nine other payments. But when two, three and sometimes even five tenants didn’t pay in the same month, it was devastating to my business. Their parents, spouses, family and friends are going to have to convince them otherwise and get them into an alcohol or drug addiction treatment center. It might be necessary to arrange an intervention; there are alcohol and drug addiction treatment centers that offer intervention as a service or you can go to someone who operates independently.

If you’re considering short-term treatment, forget it. It’s been proven over and over again that it’s just not successful. You’ll waste a lot of money and, in the end, you’ll still be worried that your son, daughter, husband, wife, or friend, will overdose or get into other trouble.
